Good Taste

Good taste

Is born out of refinement;

Out of a refusal

To vulgarize life and

To appropriate it for pleasure.

We live confused lives

Scripted by our fickle ignorance

Our beliefs are misguided

Our values, misplaced

Our philosophy, arrogant.

We buy to own

We earn money to buy

We work to earn money

In this organization of our time

Much is lost.

What if you reminded yourself

Life is a gift to be valued

Not a pseudo poverty

Needing pseudo alleviation.

All vulgarity would be transformed…

What could entice man

If he cares not for money

And has not mortgaged his time?

And has understood that

To love is his essential responsibility.

To simply be is humility

To be engaged, but not tied

To be essential

Not excessive…

Good taste is good judgment.

Are You Ready for Departure?

Have you emptied your mind

Of all resentments and grudges

And offered it at the altar

Of an ever-present love

That has the heart-space

To let thoughts of all textures be?

Have you risen from the feeling of paucity and need;

Reclaimed your inheritance of abundance

And come to the realization

That your blessings far exceed your need;

Have you come to see

That to give is the only way to live?

Have you let go of all expectations

That external change

Must be ordered by your efforts

And instead re-directed

Your attention and work

Towards re-aligning yourself?

Have you understood

That you will not live forever

And that you are life’s guest;

A pilgrim on a journey…

Have you found as yet

What you are here to seek?

Have you embraced both

Strength and vulnerability

Gain and loss

Success and failure

Pleasure and pain

Requital and rejection?

Are you ready for your onward journey?

Have you packed in your magic-

That special power that life decorated you with?

That incredible ability to convert

Darkness to light; experience to wisdom and

Apprehension to love.

Undisturbed

Do not be intimidated by a blow.

Do not be crippled by doubt.

Do not lose your faith

In the face of obstacles.

Do not hand over

Your courage to fear.

Do not break up with truth

To accommodate a lie.

Do not let opinions

Douse your spark.

Forgoing your essence

Is not a virtue;

It’s a weakness.

Immorality proceeds

From our forgetting

That we are protected by a reality

That stands over and above appearances;

And that stands outside the bounds of

Perception, emotion and intelligence.

Stay intact. Stay whole. Stay undisturbed.

Innate

Happiness

Wealth and

Power

Are innate

They cannot be acquired from the world.

They are hidden in three capacities

Within you:

Dedication

Sacrifice and

Service.

Three Questions

Your self-worth

Cannot be worthily determined

By yardsticks and expectations

Laid out by other people

Or by perceptions that are not framed by you;

Your worth ought to be self-measured.

Ask yourself:

Where abides your faith?

The creation of which value

Can you take responsibility for?

And wherein lies

Your greatest treasure?

When the Conversation Ends…

It’s not enough somehow

To be in a relationship…

The relationship must also

Become the mirror

Through which

You can come to see

All that remains unresolved

Suppressed and hidden

Within you.

Your doubts, your fears

Your memories, your pain

Need to be met face to face

Only so that

You can leave them behind.

Relationships must be embraced

Only so that you can eventually

Come to be free of the expectations

That orchestrated the relating.

The purpose of relationships

Is to break down

The myths you carry

Within you, about yourself

So that you may come to see

That you were never in need

Even as you searched for validation

To assert your independence

Disowning your own ignorance.

A good relationship

Is founded on love and faith

It’s a journey that will end in absolution;

And a dissolution

Of all that makes you partial.

You must, in and through it

Come to experience

The disappearance of all

That is unreal.

Leave behind the words

Allow the promises to play out

Be grateful for the tall praises

Forget the short, biting remarks

Understand that relationships

Exist on the tides of time

When the conversation ends

Allow yourself

To rest in silence.

#Ten Year Challenge

It’s never too late…

Nor too early

To review your actions

And set them on a course

Of a meaningful life

Meaningfulness…

Is conscious and purposeful living

Where your actions

Are a Systematic Investment Plan

That will yield a freedom

That is whole, independent

Fearless and courageous

Full of faith and confident

Cheerful and kind.

I am Life

I wonder sometimes

What will all my occupations

Add up to?

The realm of action

Is a confined space

That cannot accommodate

Dimensions of my being

That want nothing…

It seems to have come into existence

In sync with my preoccupations…

With the unfinished business

Kick-started by my intelligent

But clueless thought.

I seem to be on a perpetual quest

For answers…

For recourse…

For validation…

For acceptance.

I need to know

That what I think matters

That what I feel is true and

That what I do is valuable

And yet something tells me

That all of this

Will add up to nothing.

It’s not life that is in need

And my work will only float

Like discarded waste in its vast ocean

Silently mocking my vain pursuits

The only value lies

In doing away with

The idea of ‘me’ and ‘mine’

And seeing that I am not ‘a life’

I am life.

From ‘I’ to ‘Am-ness’

‘I’ don’t matter

But my thoughts do

They become the nature

Of my ‘am-ness’.

It’s not the ‘I’

But the ‘am-ness’ that must grow

From being an identity

To simply being…

To free yourself

From experiences that bind you

Means to change

The direction of your thoughts

To shift your attention

From confining circumstances

To an ever-present vastness

That alone

Is the extent of your freedom…

Moving from ‘I’ to ‘am-ness’.

Breathe

Breathe…

Don’t hold on to an event.

Let go…

And

When you let go

Let go of that which holds on to it.

Let go

Of expectation, of need, of want…

Of dead ends.

Inhale

A new air; welcome a new possibility

Allow it to enter

Let it

Lift you up…

Refresh and revitalize you.

Breathing

Is the blessing of your life

In its rhythm, you stand perceived…

Freed

Of all that you held on to

Of all that you thought was important.

Sustained

Through an abundant providence

Of ever-expanding consciousness.
